Miguel Swaen was born and raised in a family of entrepreneurs, active in the production and distribution of drinks for three generations. He attended secondary school in Belgium and decided, after studying Medicine, to obtain his engineering degree at the Wageningen Agricultural University. Equipped with his knowledge of agriculture, he was asked by the ICT giant IBM Netherlands to do some pioneering work in their agriculture division. This entry in the technology industry lead to a career in the ICT industry, firstly as a consultant and later in sales and management positions.
Miguel Swaen founded Apryxia in 1997. He also was a board member of the Finance & Legal department of Glasford International for several years. Miguel is married and lives partly in Amsterdam and partly in Maastricht.
